While attending a funeral for a child, my heart was aching for the family. I could not imagine the pain they must be feeling. I sat there wondering what could I say that would make a difference…what could I do that would make a difference? I knew there was really nothing that could be said to make a difference to this family who had lost their child. I sat there thinking of the times I had attended funerals for children, always wondering what could be done to help the family. That day in 2016, as I sat at this funeral, it came to me very clearly there was something that could be done.
I knew at that moment the Lord was trusting me to fulfill a most worthy mission… help families by creating an organization that would provide financial support for necessary funeral and burial expenses. It is heart breaking that families must face the death of a child. The related financial burden only adds to the devastation.
The name of the organization came to me as the grieving father of this young girl said a special prayer. Children In His Care. My prayer is that Children In His Care will be an organization that cares for families when they need it most.
